Looking for an art community in metro Detroit?

We are a club for artists living and creating in southeastern Michigan and beyond. Our art group meets monthly for presentations by prominent artists, for artistic support and friendship, and to share news and accomplishments. As an art club, we exhibit twice yearly in venues around the Detroit area and in Oakland County. We also hold monthly artwork juries as well as online open studio sessions and a critique group to foster our artistic development. More on our history and club perks here.

NO MEETING IN DECEMBER.

Next meeting is Tuesday, January 24, 2022, at Color | Ink Studio in Hazel Park. At this meeting, we will have an in-person jury of work for our spring show. Esteemed juror will be Treena Flannery Ericson, the longtime Exhibition Director at the historic Scarab Club of Detroit. After jurying and lunch, Treena will do a presentation that will be a critique of the accepted pieces. Please refer to Lisa’s emails for specific instructions about preparing artwork for the show, fees, etc.

First meeting for non-members is free.

Inspiring monthly meetings

Detail of “Through the Looking Glass” by
Meike Rapp.

Not only do we meet, share and celebrate accomplishments each month, we also are inspired by some wonderful speakers. We’ve attracted some of the most talented artists in the country to give presentations at our meetings. Learn more.

Critique groups & paint-alongs

“Left Leaning,” by Nancy Slutsky, a painting that was previously critiqued in Mentors & Protegés.

We offer Mentors & Protegés, a monthly critique group on Mondays year-round, usually the first Monday. During our meeting months, we have Tuesday Tuneup, a studio paint-along where we join each other by Zoom for various painting challenges or just some company while we complete our own projects. Exhibitions & monthly juries

“The Color of Winter, ” by Linda Pelowski, our first place winner in our Spring exhibit.

We have two group exhibitions a year, usually juried and at local galleries. First place at our spring show gets a cash prize and a nice plaque. We also have monthly juries of our work with an annual award for the most cumulative points. Learn more.
